Types of system-of-systems integration (SOSI):

1. Collaborative SOSI:

   - Involves multiple autonomous systems working together towards a common goal.

   - Each system retains its own management, goals, and resources.

   - Coordination and cooperation are essential for effective integration.

2. Directed SOSI:

   - A central authority coordinates and oversees the integration of multiple systems.

   - The central authority defines the goals, specifies the systems, and maintains the overall integration.

3. Acknowledged SOSI:

   - Autonomous systems recognize their interdependence and the overall SOSI goals.

   - The systems maintain their own management and resources, but collaborate with the SOSI.

   - The SOSI provides a framework for coordination and integration.

4. Virtual SOSI:

   - Involves the dynamic integration of independent systems, often in a virtual environment.

   - The systems are not physically connected but interact through software interfaces or networks.

5. Embedded SOSI:
   - The integration is embedded within the individual systems, rather than being a separate layer.
   - The systems are designed from the ground up to work together as part of the SOSI.

6. Organic SOSI:
   - Evolves over time as new systems are added or existing systems are modified.
   - The integration is flexible and adapts to changes in the systems and their interactions.

These are some of the common types of system-of-systems integration approaches. The specific type used depends on the complexity, autonomy, and level of coordination required in the integration of the constituent systems.
